Who We Are
About New Hope Cat Rescue

New Hope Cat Rescue is a volunteer-run nonprofit based in Johnson City, Tennessee, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need. Founded on the belief that every feline life is worth protecting, we provide a safe haven for abandoned, neglected, and at-risk cats of all ages. Through our network of compassionate fosters, we offer loving temporary homes, veterinary care, and a thoughtful adoption process that prioritizes long-term compatibility. Whether it's a feral kitten in need of socialization or an older cat left behind, we work tirelessly to ensure each cat is given a second chance and a fresh start.

At the heart of our mission is Cedric — the beloved cat of our founder, Fred — who serves as a symbol of the hope and healing that a caring home can provide. Inspired by Cedric’s story, we operate with the conviction that rescue is not just about sheltering animals, but about building a community of kindness. We rely on donations, volunteers, and partnerships to carry out our work, and we believe that everyone can play a role — whether by fostering, adopting, donating, or simply sharing our mission. Together, we bring new hope to cats who have none.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adopt a cat from New Hope Cat Rescue?
Start by completing our Adoption Application. Once approved, we’ll help match you with a cat that fits your home and lifestyle. A meet-and-greet is typically required before finalizing the adoption.

Is there an adoption fee?
Yes, our adoption fee helps cover veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and other costs associated with rescue. The fee amount may vary based on the cat’s age and medical history.

Can I meet the cats before adopting?
Absolutely! Once your application is approved, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with the foster family to help ensure a great fit.

What if I need to return a cat?
If things don’t work out, the cat must be returned to New Hope Cat Rescue. We do not allow rehoming outside our process, as the cat’s safety is our priority.
